The Government of Wales Act 2006: teaching resource note

This teaching resource note has been produced by Richard Owen (University of Glamorgan) as an introduction to the general principles behind the Government of Wales Act 2006. It is intended to be of assistance to those teaching legal systems particularly to those outside Wales and explains why familiarity with aspects of the Act is necessary in other parts of the UK. It was written in 2010 following a resolution of the National Assembly for Wales calling for a move to primary law making powers. This will have to be approved in a referendum which, at the time of writing, looks like it will be in the spring of 2011.
